Review (reproduced from Freq magazine, March 2000)Artist: Bozwell CD Title: Bozwell Reviewed by: L. D'Intino "Bozwell exposes his singer/songwriter talents, with some excellent results to show for it. Overall, the c.d. is very catchy, with some beautiful melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and great hooks. Yet labeling it as simply a “pop” album would not be completely accurate. There’s no doubt that he intended the songs to be tuneful and melodic, with an overall accessible feel to them, and he definitely achieved that. But one still can’t help being impressed by the fine musicianship, and interesting variety of playing styles on the c.d. as well. In what amounts to essentially a song-oriented c.d. (as opposed to “jam” oriented), Bozwell’s exceptional guitar work still manages to shine through. He can play very capably in styles ranging from soft acoustic flamenco, to electronic, to sizzling old school rock guitar. The third track “I Just Want To Live” is a classic, and a great example of the duality that you sometimes find on the c.d. It begins as a wonderfully haunting tune, that you might even say has some top 40 quality to it, and ends with a brilliant instrumental piece, so magical, that it would impress even the hardest of hard-core progressive-rock fans. If you buy the c.d. for this song alone, it will be money well spent. The good news is that there are other great songs as well. “Motherlode” is another beauty and is note-worthy in that he plays all of the instruments ... “Five Day Tango” is indeed a rocked up tango that is highlighted by a marvelous, scorching guitar solo (I am officially declaring guitar solos to be “in” again) ..."
